Our Setting

Cuckfield Pre-School was established more than 50 years ago and moved to its present site in the Village Hall in 1990. In recent years it has developed to incorporate all the changes in early years education so as to ensure children have the best possible start. The Revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides the basis for all the procedures and activities at Preschool. We have a strong belief in the policy of inclusion, and all children are very welcome.

We are registered with Ofsted for a maximum of 30 children per session and 5/6 adults. This ensures high quality care and maximises learning opportunities. Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) carry out a regular programme of inspections. In our inspection (our first since we re-incorporated as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation) we were graded Good in all areas.

Read our Ofsted report.

We are also a member of the Early Years Alliance. This is a national organisation that provides staff training, campaigns for the needs of young children in education, and acts in an advisory capacity.

Our Staff

We strongly believe in the importance of an experienced and well-qualified team of staff and a high ratio of staff to children. All our staff are expected to undertake an appropriate early years training if they are not already trained when they join us. Regular on-going training is also encouraged both to benefit the setting as a whole and to enable staff to follow particular interests. In addition, all staff have a regularly up-dated Paediatric First Aid certificate and undergo training in Child Protection and Safeguarding. See our staff.

Our Parents & Fundraising Committee

Cuckfield Pre-school operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, with trustees and also a team of parents / carers who organise our fundraising and social activities. Our Charitable status means we keep our fees as affordable as we can, as we're not making a profit for anyone. Fundraising, 30 hours funding and fees are all used for the benefit of the children in providing a stimulating environment with experienced staff. We recognise the importance of a strong partnership with parents/carers and strive to ensure parents/carers feel welcome to help us give their child the best possible start to early years education.
